Tall, friendly and sturdy looking, HEFC Volunteer Hassan, greets people in the hallway, chatting with the folks lined up to get their food, explaining the process to them and providing information. He provides a reassuring presence in our congested waiting area.
Hassan’s ability to speak 5 languages, as well as his interpersonal skills, and calm demeanour are invaluable, especially during this time when we are serving an increasing number of clients who do not speak English or French. He has also helped HEFC with translation of communication material.
Asked why he has chosen to give so much time to volunteering at HEFC, Hassan says that he thinks that the most important issues in life are to worship God, and to serve people. He enjoys working at HEFC and helping newcomers adjust to Canadian life.
We are very fortunate to have skilled, committed and compassionate volunteers like Hassan. We thank him for his great contribution to our program.
