HIRING ASSISTANT CO-ORDINATOR

The Heron Emergency Food Centre (HEFC) invites applications for a one-year, part-time, Assistant Coordinator position.

1. Job Title: Assistant Coordinator 

2. Role: The Assistant Coordinator supports the delivery of services provided by the Heron Emergency Food Centre (HEFC) and reports to the Executive Coordinator.

4. Key Responsibilities:                                                                                                                                          

• Perform administrative tasks including data entry and record-keeping

• Coordinate schedules for volunteers and staff to ensure smooth operations.

• Prepare inventory reports.

• Respond to email and phone inquiries.

• Support daily food bank operations, including stocking food items and distributing food to clients.

• Ensure donations are accounted for and stored properly.

• Assist in ensuring that the facility is well organized, and clean.

4. Required Qualification: Completion of secondary education; Administrative and service delivery experience as a volunteer or in employment; Excellent interpersonal, administrative, and organizational skills.

5. Preferred Qualifications: The ability to speak Arabic and/or French would be an asset.

6. Work Environment and Conditions: The successful applicant will work 16 hours a week from Tuesday to Friday at the Heron Emergency Food Centre (HEFC). Please note that this includes work on Wednesday evenings from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm.

HEFC is at Heron Road Community Centre, 1480 Heron Road, 1st Floor, Ottawa

7. Salary Range: $18.50 to $20 an hour
