Donate Time
The Heron Emergency Food Centre currently has 90 volunteers
In 2023, HEFC had 75 volunteers, representing a contribution of 7,020 hours of time.
HEFC could never meet the needs of the hungry in our community without the help of those who so generously donate their time every week, whether volunteering directly at the Centre, helping to collect and sort food, or working behind the scenes on the Board of Directors.
How to Volunteer
To volunteer, drop by our distribution location at 1480 Heron Road during our hours of operation and speak to our Executive Coordinator.
Don't have time to volunteer at our Centre? How about organizing a fundraiser or food drive at your school or place of work? It doesn't take much to make a difference. Like to garden? How about sharing the fruits (or should we say vegetables?) of your labour by growing an extra row and bringing it in sometime?
Become a Board member - The HEFC is managed by a board of directors that meets monthly (10 times per year). We are always looking for enthusiastic people to serve on the board.
